Hi everybody,
so far I only published some pictures of my paintings, but now we will start the phase in which you are supposed to create as well! I painted my very first painting with my aunt and my cousin when I was 14 and then went on with self study books and by experimenting a lot. I love acrylic paint, because it dries faster than oil and can be diluted with water which is not so smell-intense as terpentine.
First you can practise on cardboard or thick paper, which is less expensive than canvas. Maybe you buy white acrylic paint (which you can use to mix with other colours) and two or three colours you favour. Set up a jar with water and two or three brushes of thick and medium size and experiment a bit.
If you use a lot of water, the pigments of the paint are highly diluted and will have the texture of water colour. The paint is thus more transparent and less intensive. However if you let one layer dry and cover it with more layers, the colours build up to bright and saturated results. If you use the paint without water it is very thick and covers the surface intensively. If it is too thick you will have trouble to move the brush. In this case add some water to dilute.
Try mixing your colours with a bigger and/or a smaller amount of white paint. See how different the results are and how new colours emerge. Experiment a bit by mixing the colours on a tray or directly on your cardboard or canvas. I personally like to mix the colours directly on the surface. I spread a lot of white paint on it and then add spots of other colours which I mix intensely for smooth effects and only a little bit for more expressive results. Try out what you like best.
Depending on how you hold and move the brush itself will also have different effects. Try moving it slowly without interruption, then try fast moves in various directions to see how different the outcome on your cardboard or canvas is. If you feel you are ready to create your first real painting, then give it a go!

Good luck and let me know what you created!

The colour blue
is my favourite colour. I painted a lot in this colour combined with yellow and white. I feel happy and at ease when working with all facades and variants of this beautiful colour which reminds me of the sea, lakes and rivers, the endless sky. It reminds me of freedom and universal timelessness....
What do you see in the colour blue?

The colour purple
... is a colour in which I painted quite a lot. I like it in combination with white, yellow and green. The jump, a picture with a lot of purple, depicts a man jumping down a waterfall. Why purple? This colour for me means excitment and extravagance :-) Just what I think someone feels and embodies who jumps down that waterfall.
Inspired by nature
I painted this double-picture for my mum. It depicts a tulip leaf and contains a lot of purple which she likes in the interior of her living room. I found that green and purple go very well together. The idea started to evolve when I saw Georgia O Keeffe pictures which inspired me a lot. So this is my hommage to her.
Turquoise
My friend Yolanda's favourite colour is turquoise. As a birthday present I painted these paintings for her. I did not paint for a long time, so I am very happy that through her I started doing so again! Thanks Yolanda-guapa! From now on I will post regularly what I am creating and my blog starts to become alive...

Welcome to my colourful world!
Hi everybody,
Do you like to create beautiful things or do you want to learn more about it? I will show you how I decorate, what I paint and what I produce with my sewing machine. I also have a lot of creative and skilled friends who have gorgeous ideas and create home-made items which they make with love for the individual and self-made.
Browsing for DIY ideas? For example how to decorate your home without spending too much money or how to give old items a new decorative purpose?
Perhaps you expect guests and want some creative suggestions on how to arrange your dinner in a more beautiful way?
Well, then let's do it together - because I love to create and I love to share my ideas ;-).
Have fun while visiting my beautiful world!
Yours,
Andrea
